Geneva High 1957 Baseball Team
Inducted Class of 2004
The Geneva High 1957 Baseball team compiled a record of 17-1 and captured the Finger Lakes League and Section V AA championships. Geneva defeated West Rochester 6 to 0 in the sectional championship game. The Guy Spader Sr, coached Panthers led by Gene Guerrie, Tony Bonavia, and John Acquilano had a record of 50 wins, 6 losses, and two Section V titles, the first in school history over that span. In 1955 Geneva reached the sectional finals where they lost a heartbreaker in extra innings. They cam back in 1956 to win the first baseball sectional title in the school’s history.
Members of the team include Gene Guerrie, John Acquilano, Tony Bonavia, Dick Darling, Joe DiZillo, Duke Enlow, Keith Gage, Joe Gillotti, Hugo Haas, Bill Heir, Tootie Moracco, Charles Robson, John Tate, and Coach Guy Spader Sr.
