Joe has spent his life enthusiastically and faithfully serving the sports community in the city of Geneva. He has been the official score keeper and the announcer for the Geneva High boys basketball team for the past 37 years. He has also been the score keeper for the Geneva High baseball team for the last 10 years. Joe was the announcer for the Geneva Cubs minor league baseball team for 10 years and is currently the voice of the Geneva Red wings in the NY Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL).

In 2000 at the age of 49, Joe was asked to be player-coach of the local ARC basketball team “The Grizzlies.” Joe helped lead the team to a gold medal at the Special Olympics in Albany. He has since retired from playing but currently coaches basketball and softball for the ARC as well as baseball in the Challenger League. Joe serves as a Global Messenger for the Special Olympics and has traveled all over the country to talk about the Special Olympics. He served as co-host of the fall Special Olympics in Seneca Falls and gave the keynote address at the New York State Special Olympics fall conference commemorating the International Year of Volunteers.
