Jerry graduated from Geneva High in 1975 where he was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse. A midfielder, Jerry never came out of the game. He rested by playing attack. Jerry was a unanimous 1st-Team Finger Lakes All-Star his senior year Jerry received a special award for his outstanding contribution to Geneva High lacrosse. He also lettered in football and basketball.
Jerry went on to play lacrosse at Hobart where he was a four-year letterwinner at midfield. He was a member of the NCAA Division II & III Championship Teams in 1976 and 1977. He was an All-American Honorable Mention selection his senior year and also played in the North-South Senior All-Star Game. A three-time All-ICAC selection, Jerry graduated from Hobart College in 1979.
Jerry was involved with the Orange County Lacrosse Club from 1980 to 1988. His team was the Western States Lacrosse Champion in 1981 and Southern California League Champions from 1980 to 1982. He was a member of the southern California all-star team from 1980 to 1988. He also served as the chief referee in the Los Angeles region for five years.
