Jim pitched for a number of teams in the fast-pitch Twilight League was selected to numerous all-star teams. He played for the strong American Can team during the thirties as its centerfielder and became one of its solid fielders and power hitters. During this period, when fast-pitch was at its height of popularity, the Can team played against the best teams in the area, including the world champion Kodak Park team.
        
Born in Pittson, Pa. Jim moved with his family to Geneva where he attended DeSales High School, graduating in 1933. He played football at DeSales and also played American Legion baseball. Later Jim became a member of the Board of Directors of the Geneva Reds and served as its public relations director. He also coached the IAM Little League team. Jim’s brother Marty was inducted into the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.
