A 1975 graduate of Geneva High, Fran was named an All-American his senior year. He started on attack all four years for the Panthers scoring 223 career points. AS team captain his senior year, Fran scored 96 points leading Geneva to a 23-1 record and the Section V semi-finals.

Fran went on to play lacrosse at St. Lawrence where he was their second all-time leading scorer with 270 career points. He set an NCAA record by scoring at least one point in all 63 games that he played. He was named All-American his senior year while leading St. Lawrence to the NCAA tournament semi-finals. In 1994, Fran was inducted into the St. Lawrence Athletic Hall of Fame. Fran has served as head lacrosse coach at Connecticut College and is currently the Director of Athletics.
