Robert Stewart was a champion high school and collegiate track and field athlete and later became a professional sports journalist and television producer. Despite not beginning track until his junior year, Rob won the Finger Lakes East and Section Five titles in the 110 high and 330 intermediate hurdles his senior year and held the Geneva High school record for both events. Rob was undefeated in League meet competition his senior year and finished in the top 10 at the NYS Championship meet in the intermediate hurdles at a time when all classes competed together. HeĀ also ran the 220 yard dash and anchored the team's undefeated 4x220 relay.

Rob ran NCAA Division 1 track at Colgate University, where he won the 400 intermediate hurdles at the New York State Collegiate Track and Field Championships and co-held the Colgate school record in the 110 high hurdles. He co-captained the team his senior year and won more than 25 races during his collegiate career. He finished his college career by racing in the high hurdles at the NCAA Division I regional qualifying meet.

After college, Rob spent many years as a television sports journalist, including being a writer for ABC's Wide World of Sports and an auto racing writer and documentary producer. He covered the Formula 1 world championship and he wrote and produced a 1-hour documentary on the history of the United States Grand Prix. Rob also worked for theĀ International Tennis Hall of Fame.
