Inducted Inaugural Class of 1990
Sonny Wilson played basketball at Geneva High School and set all kinds of records. He was captain of the 1950 team that won the Section 5 Tournament…this team was considered by some to be the best all-time Geneva High team. He was named to the Section 5 All-Star first team in 1950 and 1951 and to the Finger Lakes All-League first team in 1950 and 1951. He still holds the Geneva High School individual single-game scoring record. Sonny continued to set records at Hobart College. His freshman year he broke the Hobart season scoring record and, continued to increase this record for the next three years. His four-year scoring record at Hobart stood for 33 years.
In 1955 Sonny signed with the Syracuse Nationals but just missed out on making the team. Sonny served two years in the U.S. Army and his army team won the European Army Championship. He was named to the All-Army Tournament first team. As a coach at Geneva High School, his J.V. teams were 56-0 and he never had a losing season as varsity coach.
